Now
that I am out of college, I have learned that
the education and degree I earned at Menlo are exceptionally
substandard to otherwise comparable schools. The Faculty led me
to believe I was being groomed for a career in
business administration. On my first interview for an
entry level job with a major bay area biotech firm,
I was told that “Menlo College is where kids go
when they can't get into Jr. College".
Another HR Director
actually questioned Menlo College's Accredidation telling me that she had
received applications from many former students and learned through her
due diligence that Menlo's accredidation was temporarily revoked in '04
due to 'standards compliance issues', and that the faculty at
Menlo is regarded by most Bay Area companies (that she's
familiar with) as “..the biggest pool of unemployable nitwits in
Silicon Valley”. Her words, not mine. Yeh, I
was shocked. I just spent $62k to attend what
I was told was “Silicon Valley's Business School” and I'm
sitting in this chair realizing what a complete disaster that
choice was, and all the consequences to my future and
career I'm going to have to endure.
My advice to
anyone considering Menlo College? Spare yourself the humiliation of
presenting your diploma to any serious and competitive Bay Area
company. If they don't laugh at you, they'll laugh
with their associates once you've walked out the door.
