I would like to retract my last comment.  Otis is an interesting school, and very good for certain programs.  It's conidered one of the best Art Colleges in the Country.  If you want to study Fashion and Toy Design, this is a good place to do that.  I would not recommentd Environmental Design.  It tries to match Architecture, but is not the same.

The best Majors here are Digital Media (Computer Animation/Motion Graphics), Graphic Design, Toy Design and Fashion.

Almost all the programs are a thorough workout.

I never took Foundation year, but I understand it was very rigorous academically.  Keep in mind that some students who didn't like the school might have resulted from their own bad experiences, rather than a real assessment of this College.  Getting straight “A's” in Art school is tough unless your really the most motivated, best student ever.

Otis offers some great opportunites to grow as an Artist, for those who want that to happen for them.  Going to Art school is centered heavily around discovering your own voice.  I know some fellow grads who are doing fantastically, and I know others who are doing not so well.  I was not very lucky out of school, but that was my own problem.  If you are interested in Art School, you have to keep in mind that the final result to get A GOOD PORTFOLIO!!!

Art school is not so much about grades, as it is about what you learn and cultivate into a career.  The best students, are not always the best designers.  Frankly, One Valedictorian was an awful designer.  Another one is a 32-year old in my major, who was just a superb student, and Designer.  When going to an Art School, one has to see themself as joining a community where your fellow students and instructors are almost equal.

Also, their liberal studies arent bad.  The instructors for that here are USC and UCLA instructors.  The really weak part is in the Math class.  Unless you major in Environmental, Toy, or Product Design, your gonna have crappy math classes.  However, the Art History, Literature, Fine Arts and Humanities are great.

This school is not a school for Jocks.  There is no Frats or Sports, you will be way too busy to do any of that stuff.  And Yes, you can have a social life here!!!  You have to make FRIENDS!!!

when i went here, I went to several Art Openings, Gala Shows, Movie Screenings, and Student Parties.  Art school is kindof weird, so be prepared for that!  Artists are not normal kids.

If your looking for the standard college experience, go to another school.  This is strictly a school of Visual Arts, go with an open mind.
