Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
If you want the college experience, you have to be extremely proactive. The Greek system is large and controversial, there are Christian fellowships, professional fraternities that I consider to be not Greek, and there are so many student organizations running the gamut of ethnic groups, political affiliations, sports, and hobbies. Student organizations made up the bulk of extracurricular activities. I didn't enjoy most parties at Cal because alcohol took the main stage. You can say the same for most schools unless it's somewhere like BYU or Notre Dame. However, students are generally friendly. I learned that many people will not give you the time of day because they are judgmental. They are a waste of time. On the other hand, the ones who don't judge you by first impression are friends. Cliques were everywhere, so don't be in a clique yourself. It makes you narrow-minded. People say the girls here are really ugly. First of all, it's not much better at other top UCs. Secondly, looks matter most if you just wanna hook up. There are so many girls here that you are bound to find someone to at least date based on deeper things like morals, values, and character. The classes in my major were hard, as I expected. I got a nice job though. No hand-holding goes on at Cal. You have to somehow learn how to interview and write resumes and cover letters. Opportunities to get professional help come from various business clubs and your own competent friends. I emphasize being proactive about finding a good job and doing well in classes. Office hours allows you to know the professor and the material a lot better. The cliche is so true. It's what you make of it.
