loved going to USD. The campus is beautiful and very
safe, I felt fine walking home from the library at
midnight by myself. It is a small campus, there isn't
much walking to do. Clubs and sports are not that
big, there are a few big basketball games, but that's
it. There aren't really any parties on campus or things
to walk to from the campus. However the beach is
a 5 minute ride away. I would say 90% of
USD juniors/seniors live in mission beach. You'll be surrounded by
other USD students and have the chance to live right
on the ocean (ride your bike up and down the
beach walk). Garnet street in Pacific Beach has bars on
both sides for about a mile long (the age of
everyone here is 21-23); there's no place in the country
like it, you can walk to different bars for dancing/drinking
whatever. Also, you can make the 15 min drive downtown
for more upscale (little bit older crowd) nightlife. So even
though there's not much to do directly on campus, there's
so much to do in MB/PB, it's the best. USD
is the university of spoiled daughters, the girls are very
pretty, blonde, and wear everything designer. I'm from the northeast
and middle class - you just have to realize that
boys don't care who made your shoes, just be fun
and nice. It is not diverse. In general most people
in san diego are good looking. Also, it will seem
like you know everyone that goes to USD, your classes
will be filled with people you know. Greek life isn't
that important, but it is easier to make friends and
I would suggest it. Class sizes are small, your teacher
will know you by name, but it is a liberal
arts education (you take a lot of classes in everything
no matter what your major). They didn't help me to
get a job after graduation, so I would suggest joining
a group say accounting or real estate and start asking
the people/teachers in charge of that to help you find
a job early. All the teachers are very nice, when
I asked for recommendations they were very willing to do
so. Most people are pretty smart here. Compared to USD:
SDSU is a party school, has a lot bigger campus
(less safe though),people live around that campus and not at
the beach so much, and there's big greek life at
state - it seems like the majority of USD is
upper class, while the majority of state is not. UCSD
is known for well asians, and you don't really meet
many people from UCSD. Oh also a lot of people
study abroad at USD, during the fall semester junior yr
and also during intersession. I know that a lot of
people made good friends through their travels. any questions ask

Responses Hi, I'm also from the Northeast and I'm considering transferring to USD. Any advice in making the transition process much easier? Which frats are good to join to be a part ofa social scene |
Hi!! I read your review and it really got my attention! I'm a student from Italy and my top choices are USD and Parsons(in NYC). I wanna go into business/management. How was finding a job after college? This is something that is fundamental to me, since the school is expensive and I don't want my parents to waste their money. Also, do they make internships mandatory during your college years? This is something that's really important at Parsons so I'd like to know something about it as well!
Talk to you soon!
Thank you,
Carolina. |
