Colorado School of Mines is a great place to learn the engineering field. Course work is not challenging, contrary to popular opinion. You just need to be relaxed and enjoy life. Not stressing is the key to making it at this school. Some people do show a sense of arrogance and think they are better than others because of Mines. Without being one of these people, Mines has a great track record of getting people jobs after graduation. Choice of department is very important. I am Geological Engineering and it is no secret that Mines has a heavy focus on resource and earth science engineering. Make sure your interests lie with the schools interests in earth, energy, and the environment (their new moto). Some students tend to be stereotypical "nerds", but many are normal college students. One of the things that amazes me the most is the involvement in athletic events on campus. For how small of a campus we are, we have a high number of student athletes and IM/Club participants (this is not to say they are athletic, but they try).
