I laugh at a lot of the negative comments on here, and here is the facts…there is only 27% of ALL U.S. citizens, of ALL ages, ALL genders, ALL races, and of ALL majors who have AT LEAST a Bachelors degree, 10% a Masters, and 1% a PhD from an internationally recognized/regionally accredited educational institution. 33% have at least a bachelors in Colorado. (Census)That's it! and that means ALL citizens that ARE ACTUALLY FINISHED, not tourists. Most people I talk to now, I say that I want to see that degree, accreditation, and follow up on my own background check to make sure it is actually completed and not someone just blowing smoke up your ass. With that said, I figure a majority of the commenters here are still in their tourist phase, and don't actually have anything completed, but sure have an opinion about anything and everything. MSU Denver IS NOT an easy school, if you're looking for that…..keep looking. Many students think college is in general early on at first(freshman/sophomore), AND, MSU Denver DOES have a much higher acceptance rate than the other accredited schools, BUT, in the end MSU Denver is only less than a HANDFUL of schools in Colorado that is REGIONALLY/INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED in accreditation, AND, the ACTUAL GRADUATION RATE is only 21% (I know, very low). It is/was an opportunity school designed to give those who are looking to save money (like most state schools) or those that didn't do so well in high school A CHANCE at attaining higher education (Bachelors degrees and now Masters degrees). Like any school though, since there are only 27% regionally accredited Bachelors period……there are a lot of smoke blowers, whiners, haters, and non-completers :) So even though the acceptance rate is high, the completion rate is low, the academic requirements are the same for ALL accredited schools. If you use it to your advantage and you are a doer…you will get a quality education, with lower cost. You will meet a lot of others (those who are under-achievers, those who work and commute, and those with drive (same as at a lot of other schools))You make out of it what you put into it. I graduated from MSU, I am just about completed with graduate school at A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY, I have NO DEBT (good luck with that one), and, MSU Denver more than prepared me for graduate school WHILE I have been working and gaining experience/promotions the WHOLE time (I'd say that makes me pretty darn smart). If you are looking for a party school and all your wants and dreams….keep looking. MSU Denver has great faculty (98% PhD's from other schools AS WELL as alumni), the institution is right downtown Denver connected with the business community, and is close to light rail/bus stations. Same as any other university there are groups, fraternities/sororities, and sports to choose from. Don't listen to the haters, I am obviously ABOVE AVERAGE on the statistics IN ALL of the United States AND Colorado regarding education since I am COMPLETED, and, about to join the 10% in less than a year. Because of my education AND experience, I also make ABOVE AVERAGE pay compared to the majority. So don't listen to the haters, more than likely they are drop-outs, but MSU has been great to me.I will say though that MSU Denver is changing…..probably because of the haters, but MSU is recognized by U.S. News/Forbes…and is growing fast, including the campus size/facility, and academic disciplines. Because of this, costs to the students are rising, and acceptance rates may begin to change.
