Coming here as an out of state student from Connecticut. I was surprised how different the people were than I expected. I expected people to be really friendly, like Colorado people are stereotypically happy, friendly people. Coming from a very wealthy area of the US, I was expecting people to see me as snobby and a rich brat, however I think I am one of the more down-to-earth people here. There are plenty of nice kids here, but its hard to meet friends if you dont totally fit the stereotypically image… the super high out of state population is overwhelming and theres too many people from California, Texas, and the South. There is little diversity, most kids are white, upper-middle class and have similar interests. If you dont love to ski and drink, and you dont want to join a sorority, this probably isnt the best school for you. Some professors are really dedicated and great teachers overall, and some grad students teaching lectures are really pathetic and are frequently corrected by their students. The campus is gorgeous. The administration could definitely make some changes to make the transition for freshmen socially and otherwise easier. The academics just arent that tough, unless youre taking classes like Chemistry & calculus.
