I would say, develop good study skills early. They are key. Always have a schedule and keep to it. Make sure that you take classes that will prepare you for grad school because you WILL have to go, the market is very competitive for jobs. Don't take classes you are not ready for, wait until you are. Take as many courses as possible that teach you how to become a better writer and use the writing lab. Don't ever turn in a first draft as a final paper. Don't be afraid to have fun but balance it with studying and hard work. Master a foreign language and try to study abroad. I did both and it increased my hiring abilities. Pick a major early on, even if you change your mind you will be assigned an advisor instead of some general ed. advisor who might not have your interest in mind. Also, get audited (this is where you submit to the university a request to see what courses need to be completed before you graduate), do it every semester. It helps to know what you have done and what you have left. Take a gap year between undergrad and grad school, it will help you to refocus on your goals. But spend the time constructively.
