The higher education "learning" experience that Hesser College promises is laughable. The college has five campuses in NH. I was a student at the Nashua campus and also worked in the front office part time in Nashua and Manchester for my work-study. This is where I got a behind the scenes view of just how unethically the staff of this college conducts itself. I regret continuing with the enrollment process, even after Financial Aid messed up my loan application. No one was ever available to speak with, including the loan officers, and especially the Academic Advisors - whom we were told had an "open door and no appointments necessary" policy. HA. That would be true, if they were ever in their office, or not on their cell phones, hanging out in the bathroom or outside smoking when students stop in! How unprofessional. The management of the Admissions Dept. uses tactics to bring in new students that are borderline criminal! For instance, I received a letter in the mail stating the college was offering me "conditional acceptance." HUH? Then, a few weeks later an actual "Acceptance" letter to Hesser College came in the mail. Trouble was, at that point, I'd never even applied for admission! The school's academic standards are a joke, the course load is a joke. The admissions staff is a joke. There is only one nice person working in Financial Aid (Thank you Deanna, for straightening out Christine and Maggie's mess!). I had more challenging/interesting assignments in high school. The instructors at Hesser—there are very few actual professors, btw—are ill-prepared, or flat out no good at dealing with the deadbeats that are only enrolled so they can stay on welfare and not have to work. The federal govt. gives Hesser money to not only pay these students' tuition, but also their living expenses, so long as they can prove they are enrolled at the school. Class registration is an unprofessionally-run, pathetic ordeal, with just two people enrolling a hundred or more students for classes in one night. The building itself is not maintained. There were constantly ceiling tiles being replaced, flooding in the classrooms, mold, stinky rooms, and light bulbs that were never replaced, even though the front desk and instructors knew about the problems. The two people running the whole dog and pony show - the dean and the admissions director - are clueless! No wonder so many students end up dropping out in the first few months. A degree from Hesser College is worthless in the real world job market, and laughable. This "college" has reprehensible standards and should be shut down for at the very least investigated for financial aid fraud. I wish more people would post their comments about Hesser here, as there are so many I've talked to that are upset with how the backward and dishonest way the college operates.

commentMaybe you should finish high school or at least learn to spell school before you comment on here calling a college a joke. As for the poster above, your negativity and judgements about Hesser are very harsh. I'm attending there now, and it is really not as horrible as you make it sound. The fact that some of the faculty smoke should not matter at all. I have never had the problem of them not being around or being too busy smoking to talk to me. I think you are just grasping at straws. Maybe you hold some hostility towards the place, I don't know. I like Hesser, one of the best things about the school is the fact that the faculty are real people who understand we are all adults who have other things going on aside from school. It doesn't drop you for missing three classes for example, which is definitely the case with state sponsored community colleges for example. That seems more of a financial scheme to me, here, you automatically fail but we still get paid so ha ha ha. As far as the degree being worthless, it is only as worthless as the earner of the degree makes it. There are a lot of successful Hesser Graduates. Just because you say it is worthless, or perhaps your degree was, as many are, in this economy, does not mean other people's are. Every day I come to school, there is an older gentleman, a really nice guy to by the way, who has been around the Manchester Campus since before it was even Hesser. He is always maintaining the school and the grounds, and you contradict yourself by saying the building is not maintained but things are being replaced and worked on. Education itself is never "worthless" and is what people make it, with or without the degree. While I will agree there are much better schools than Hesser College I am sure, for the price, it is definitely worth it. I am two months away from earning the last 6 credits I need. Your arguments against the school is what really seems laughable, did you get picked on a lot there? Is that why you refer to the whole student body as deadbeats? Wow, with that kind of outlook, no wonder you never made friends. I have met a lot of nice students and faculty at Hesser. If anyone is looking for a school that offers a diverse student body, a decent variety of classes and programs for a decent price, don't overlook Hesser based on the "quite bright" female's comments. She sounds real negative with a chip on her shoulder.
responseI agree with the original post. I have worked here for a while and also attend classes. Working here is one of the big mistakes because you actual see the inside and how things operate. If people even began to see what kind of attrocious things are covered up by the upper management, they would be sick to their stomach. I am at the Manchester campus and don't know how the other campuses are but manchester is in line for some major bad publicity once the right person catches what goes on within the faculty. Namely Admissions is a very unethically run staff. Career Services is a joke as well and not to mention the person that runs it all J.L…is only interested in the personal/sexual involvement she can have with the students and not about anyone's future success. The Executive Director M.Z…is no better. I actually saw a Safety Officer assault a female student and they did nothing about it…shame on you Hesser!
