| I
almost transferred from Georgetown University, but ultimately stayed — it
was the best decision I ever made. If my
four years have taught me anything, Georgetown is what you
make of it. I have met some of the
most amazing, inspiring people and I have also met complete
and utter entitled pricks. It is up to you
to decide whether you want to let the latter stand
in the way of the former — my experience got
infinitely better once I decided to ignore the pricks and
hang with those that amazed me. Georgetown has an incredible
city — DC — as its backdrop. Your experience
will be better if you use it. Georgetown has
a brilliant faculty that, often, deeply cares about you.
Your experience will be better if you find a mentor
and a department that you love. Georgetown students are
active and involved in many different clubs. Your experience
will be better if you participate. Georgetown is challenging,
yet highly rewarding. Your experience will be worth it
if you let it open your eyes. I graduated a
few weeks ago and I must say that I attribute
everything to Georgetown. But, it takes hard work.
There will be sleepless nights. There will questions about
whether this is the right place for you. There
will be tons of work and an onslaught of less
than pleasant personalities. But, for every bad situation, there
is an amazing college town, the best friends you'll ever
make, and the most rewarding academic situation you can find.
This is a school for hard workers and proactive
individuals. If you are one of them — I
hope you become a Hoya too. I'm glad I
did.
