Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
Enrolled in online medical coding certificate program, and I wish it wasn't already too late to withdraw. Initially I was optimistic because my admissions rep was extremely helpful, but once the school got my down payment my optimism vanished because everything started to fall apart and the level professionalism and care from staff became more and more non-existent. I almost feel as though I was in a bait and switch act.I'm spending too much money to just have a teacher read a power point presentation that mirrors the textbook verbatim. I'm not learning anything. The course material also doesn't include education or training on a very major change in the field that will take place in less than 10 months and will be necessary for current students to know in order to get certified and obtain jobs (which I wasn't made aware of until I was already in class). In all fairness, my teacher is very nice and the only remaining positive aspect of the school (most likely because she is thousands of miles away in Texas and doesn't actually work at the school). The school also didn't send my textbooks until 3 WEEKS after class had started even though I asked about them 2 weeks before class, and when I had inquired about them I was basically told I'd get them when I get them, and whoever takes care of it must have been on vacation. Almost all of my classmates had the same issue with their textbooks, and my teacher said it takes the school an unusually long time to send her copies of the textbook as well, clearly the school doesn't care if their students are prepared or even learn. There also seems to be an overall lack of organization, leadership, and accountability among staff. They forgot to charge me for 3 of my monthly payments until I inquired about it, and was told there must have been a miscommunication between departments and then they wanted to charge me for all 3 at once even though it was their error. Also, I've been trying to reach someone in the registrar for the past week, but no one answers the phone or returns calls or emails. Overall, I am not getting wait I'm paying for, and I'm certain having enrolled at Mildred Elley will not help my career. If I could withdraw and get my money back, I would.
