expect a college-type atmosphere. Don't expect to meet many goal-oriented,
friendly people. Don't expect a beautiful, well-maintained campus. If you
want any of those three features, don't go to FIU,
go to the University of Miami. FIU is a commuter
school, don't listen to what anyone else says, there is
practically no social life on campus, the parking is terrible,
and there just isn't any sense of community on campus
- you don't feel like you are in a real
college environment. Football is HUGE in South Florida - and
you know something is wrong when FIU's football team can
barely draw people, let alone students, to any of their
games. It's a shame that some FIU students root for
the crosstown Miami Hurricanes instead of their own FIU Golden
Panthers.
