Everything about education was great. But everything about personal relationships was disgusting. The campus has so many rules of conduct that I only went there to sleep. I was rescued by the fact that I came home from time to time and immediately used detroit hook up. It reconciled me to reality and gave me new strength to last another semester. |
Major: Language - French/Spanish/etc. (This Major's Salary over time)
This is a great university if you are from out of state and would like to enjoy the wonderful miami weather. everybody who goes to this school is pretty much from miami, and even though most students were born in cuba or another country (but have since become very american), miami sometimes does feel like it is filled with people who don't know what is beyond the 30 minutes from their house. they went to high school in miami, college in miami, and will eventually die in miami, many w/out having seen the rest of the US. since there are around 40,000 students, many many students commute. you can enjoy having fresh faces and the advantages of a large university, but you also have a close-knit group of the students who live on campus and who get involved in clubs and organizations. my major is spanish, and i came from a town that didn't have anything but white american culture and english, so studying in miami was ideal for me because many adults and people who work on campus and live around FIU don't speak english (not the teachers or department people, but like the people who work at the food places, clean stuff, etc). it can be very frustrating sometimes, but don't be too quick to judge, just because no adults speak english doesn't necessarily mean they are poor, but i do think they are lazy. I'm a very ambitious person, and there has not been any program that i know of that has not been suitable for an ambitious person to receive a great education and to really further their studies. there are also those slacker commuter kids, but even they aren't too bad and you will receive a great education here.
