First of all, it is very amusing to me that PCC would actually send an email requesting alumni to post their thoughts on this board when I know for a fact that if we, the alumni, were still on campus we would not be able to access said site!

It has been very interesting to read the posts and see the perspectives reflected here; although they range from 100% bitterness to complete satisfaction I would have to say that all of the above represent a sampling of the attitudes on campus during any given semester. I do not hate the school but I also am not blind to the flaws in its operational procedures.

I knew very well what the rules were prior to entering the school as I had friends who were sophomores there prior to my freshman year. I went to PCC to obtain a quality education and I feel that that is exactly what I received. (The old

you get out what you put in
principle).

Are the rules unrealistic? Probably, but if you are willing to suck it up and not focus on them you will be fine. I think a major reason many of my friends and roommates were kicked out over the years was not so much for their "major violations" (meeting a boy off campus, talking in an un-chaperoned area and those extra demerits tipping them over the D-limit, going to wrong beach, off campus without a pass, watching a PG-rated movie at a staff person's home, etc.) as for the fact that they either took pictures of such activities and let the wrong person see them or else that they were unable to keep their mouth closed. I did not have a huge problem with the rules, but I will be the first to admit that yes, I did miss required college functions, watched movies at staff houses, spoke to males off campus and so on- I just did not run right down to the Four Winds and broadcast the fun I had just had!

I have to say that I met so many wonderful, faithful life-time friends while I was at PCC, and that is something that I think everyone from the happy Bible majors to the bitter Art students can admit that they did gain from the time they were at PCC.

The accredidation issue: as many have already pointed out, YES, it is a VERY REAL problem for grads! I was a College Days Hostess with a pretty button and my best Sunday attire on many occasions, glibly handling this question as I had been instructed during my required training meeting. I honestly thought that it would not be a major hurdle for me due to my excellent GPA…not so! If you are comtemplating any sort of career path requiring advanced certification this should be a serious consideration! I am talking to nursing, pre-law, accounting, and engineering students in particular! Also, be forewarned that Mr. Gregory, in my recent experience, can not be counted on to assist you in your endeavors to gain admittance to grad schools!

Overall, I had a good college experience, but the changes in faculty and particularly Pastor Schettler's leaving are warning signs and should not be ignored! Many long-time employees and faculty have left recently and the cultutre of fear is a very real factor in these departures-what many students do not realize is how closely staff are monitored and how easy it is for them to lose their jobs if they too do not "toe the line".

Very lengthy and I apogolize for that, but it is a very complex situation!

Bottom line: If you decide to attend PCC, be VERY careful, watch your back and know who to avoid and who to trust! The teachers will be helpful-thank them and realize their lives are only slightly less regimented than your own! If you plan on any further educational pursuits after college think twice and then again- yes, no debt is great but how will you like re-doing your undergrad degree while holding down a full time job?

By the way fellow grads, isn't it the sweetest thrill to not have to watch for the palm tree stickers anymore?!
