The academics at PCC at top-notch! I sometimes help my husband grade papers and tests for his college students at a state college and the difference is huge! These students would never make it at PCC! The standards at PCC are high and I am so amazed that what I have seen from other colleges is sub-standard in comparison. I have typed papers for masters students and the lack of knowledge in grammar and spelling is ridiculous! These papers I typed for MASTERS program students who received A's, would fail freshman courses at PCC. We also had to show up for class at PCC—another subject that is substandard at state universities in my opinion. Having completed a four-year degree at PCC, I feel quite accomplished (and I graduated Cum Laude—tooting my own horn!) If only the rest of the world were as impressed, however. Because PCC is not accredited, I ran into employment issues. I almost lost my job once because of the not being accredited. To PCC staff's credit, they did bend over backwards helping me to keep my job. I did get to keep the job, but only after University of West Florida vouched for my credits with a personal letter (a favor they did for PCC).

As far as the rules go, they were a shock when I arrived. Thinking back it seems like it was crazy to live in that manner! However, I think it kept me focused on the academics. I broke several rules and learned how to "beat" several of them. I felt like such a rebel—looking back it is funny that I was a "rebel" for leaving campus with three other girls going to approved places, but WITHOUT a pass—or listening to southern gospel—or bumping knees under the table with my boyfriend. Please…I'm not a rebel at all. I was one of the unlucky few who were "socialled" (unable to talk to the opposite sex for two weeks), because "someone said" that I was talking to my boyfriend in church. I was told it was character-building, but actually found it just irritating that someone thought they were "righteous" in turning us in for perhaps whispering a comment about the sermon or something. If anything harmed my Christianity at PCC, it was the hypocrisy and holier-than-thou attitude. However, that can be found widespread in many churches, so why blame PCC?

Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom. I also do childcare in my home and have two side businesses of stuff-your-own animal parties and custom fragrances. I am happy and content. I think PCC gave me a great work ethic, a great education, and many lifelong friends. Anything that was "negative" made me who I am today and I would not change anything.
