is definitely not for everyone. If you are not good
about following rules, you will probably have a pretty crappy
time. If you grew up following rules, you will do
fine. It seems as though a lot revolves around appearances.
You don't get “written up” if you never do your
devotions or pray(outside prayer group), but you do if your
sideburns are lower than the middle of your ear, even
if they are neatly trimmed. Some of the rules, like
wearing a tie to morning classes, and a tie and
jacket to dinner are pretty stupid, but it looks good
when guests come. A lot of the students don't like
a lot of the aspects of the college. I also
don't “feel the love” from the college as an institution,
but I do feel it from individuals. I know some
really great students, and I have had some great teachers
who are willing to help me, but they are individual
parts. Some stuff, like not being able to wear the
Hollister and Abercrombie + Fitch logos, no jeans or sandals,
no t-shirts for guys, but the girls can wear shorts
to the sports center, is just plain insane. Also, they
are very uptight about guy/girl relationship. People can get socialled
for sitting at the same table as a member of
the opposite sex in the library, of for talking to
them in the halls while classes are going on. In
short, go to the college before you apply, and ask
the students a lot of questions, about rules, what they
don't like, and what annoys them. Also, don't go during
“College Days.” That is just for the guests, and you
get a better view of the college if you visit
during regular times. As far as working on campus goes,
if you quit during the school year, outside of christmas
break, you get 20% of the demerits necessary to get
kicked out. Work comes before school, which is stupid.
