I started at UCF in 2009 and after the fall semester i transferred out. I could not take the ignorance of the students there. All they are worried about is going out and greek life. The people there are mostly american from random places in florida, extremely small percentage from out of state, no diversity.

In my classes no one would participate which gave me no desire to want to do better. Most of the work is busy work, and i did take classes related to my major not just gen. eds. and even those were a joke. I had a professor that would put material on the test he had not even covered yet and would make exception for certain people.

I think UCF is too young and has way too many students. It might be decent 20 years from now but i advise you to choose another school. It is a commuter school so unless you are from orlando i would not come here. To top everything off all of their sports suck. Maybe if they were ranked like UM or UF I would have stayed one more semster..

The school is completely empty on weekends which makes you want to cry all day. Once you have been to the four bars in the surrounding area 2 or 3 times you have gone thru the UCF college experience..nothing else to it.

responseI agree that there is a lot of emphasis on Greek life but I have had a great experience here regardless. If you only stayed for a semester than you probably did not give it enough of a chance. Don't rely on others to push your will to learn. Blaming others for your shortcoming sounds like a personal problem and not one with the school. And advising people not to go here won't make our sports teams or growth any better. I'm just saying that one semester of school here doesn't give you insight, it sounds to me like you're just projecting your own arrogance onto others.
responseActually, I attended UCF for nearly four years, and a lot of what was said in the review is accurate. UCF is a commuter school, which means that the campus is relatively vacant on weekends with a very small amount of local students who live either on campus or nearby.

The teachers range from very good to those who could care less about you and are only there to advance their own careers.

I agree that people shouldn't rely on the teacher to motivate them to learn, but I believe that it is the teacher's responsibility to facilitate learning for their students, which is something that some of my teachers at UCF failed to provide.

The surrounding area has a lot of bad people (rapists, muggers, ect.) the water tastes terrible, and there is a local gas powered plant nearby that puts a good amount of pollutants in the air for you to breath.

commentMost of UCF's students that take classes on the main campus live on campus or in one of the affliated housing areas within a few miles. The Orlando area is not particularly unsafe unless you are downtown which is at least 20 minutes from campus. I have never felt unsafe on campus and they offer a service to drive you from class to where ever at night if you do feel unsafe. Most general education classes will drive people nuts because of how little effort it takes and how many idiots are in your classes, some beginning classes in your major as well but I am in my 3rd year at UCF as an engineering student. My classes are terrific. I have mostly great teachers who care about what they do and want others to learn. Really just one or two semesters is not enough to get a good understanding of a school and to give the school a low ranking because you didn't give it a chance or try make the best of it is unfair.
commentWhoever wrote this latest comment about the UCF area being safe is wrong. Read the local school paper and count how many of these students are being mugged and killed and then tell us how safe that place really is. Unbelievable!
commentRead the local paper of any university or, for that matter, any city or town in America and you will see the same thing. Its a super-condensed version of all negative activity. Happens everywhere, and mostly correlates to the number of people in a given area. Its a "human" problem, not a university problem. So "humans" just should never have made it out of the womb.

commentYou may be right but I've lived in cities larger than Orlando, and I've never had people flick my off while I was walking down the street. Orlando is a shit-hole, and anyone who thinks differently is either in denial or a moron. FU dipshit!
