| This
is very much a commuter school. However, I'm 27 and
married so I don't need much of a campus social
life. That being said, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do
on or around campus. There is no neighborhood, no local
bars, no cute little bookstores or coffee shops, nothing. There's
a shopping mall, some chain restaurants, a flea market down
the road, a Walgreen's...you get the picture. I wouldn't recommend
coming here without a car. Also, the parking situation is
miserable unless you take classes at 8am or after 3pm.
There is no reliable public transportation system in Tampa either.
The city itself is OK, it's very normal. You aren't
too far from beaches and the weather is nice. Do
get used to driving everywhere though. My actual classes
have all been adequate. I'm not in nursing courses until
next month, and am completing prereqs now. USF is very
technology happy though, so get used to online courses and
components to live courses. I'm getting exactly what I pay
for at USF. I chose the only school that I
could afford in Tampa that offered a BSN when I
moved here, and the nursing program is supposed to be
fantastic. Oh, and unlike some other reviewers, I haven't noticed
any racial tension here, but I don't go out of
my way to pay attention to race...
