Like any university, Emory has its pros and cons. When I first came to the school, it really bothered me how many people appear flaunt wealth here. However, I know realize that these people only make up a small portion of emory's population. Emory has great opportunities, as it is one of the best schools in the country. The social scene is what you make of it. If one is into greek life, one can stay on campus and still find something to do nearly every night. But Atlanta provides unlimited entertainment, if one so chooses. Overall, Emory is very academic though and provides a good balance between social life and academics. The campus itself is gorgeous and is situated in a great area in Atlanta. For a lot of northerners, like myself, Atlanta is not what you would expect from a big city, as it is has a lot of suburban sprawl etc. Once you live here for a while and experience the life down here you will grow to appreciate it, if not love it. If your looking at top schools like Wash U., Dartmouth, and Johns Hopkins, you should definitely check out Emory.
