Okay so this might be the most honest comment that wil be posted because through the admit process I used this site as a tool and the idiots that posted crap kinda hurt this resource so.. yeah THIS IS ESPECIALLY FOR LOWER AND MIDDLE CLASS KIDS, THIS IS BY NO MEANS ANY ATTACK ON RICHER KIDS OR SNOBBY KIDS YOU CANT HELP IT I UNDERSTAND THAT. PART OF IT IS YOUR FAMILY AND PART OF IT IS JUST HOW YOU DEAL WITH YOUR EMOTIONS. YOUR FAMILY HAS ATTAINED WEALTH AND WANT TO SHUN ANYONE ELSE OUT BECAUSE WE'RE A THREAT TO YOUR "PERFECT" BUT THE TRULY PERFECT WORLD IS ONE WHERE RICH KIDS INVITE POORER KIDS INTO THEIR HOMES OR AT LEAST TALK TO THEM.

There are things to note about Emory:

#1 There ARE two different Undergrad schools Emory college and Oxford College. Both are equally snobby by the way except Oxford has to be nice to draw you in. Trust me I spoke with several different ppl at Emory main cmapus and they were all bitter. (I think its all the money goin to their heads but hey!) Oxford is better but don't let that fool you I went into learnlink to meet future classmates and added them to my facebook and I seemed to hit it off with one girl so I went into the details of my childhood and she totally blew me off for "scaring" her of the real world! I mean how can you go to a supposedly great institution and not realize the world is naturally scary? lol

#2 It isn't the ivy league that said the ivy leaugue is not that diferent from emory so naturally they are al categorized together as being \"good\", in fact state schools (UGA as example WILL provide a better education)

#3 It is a VERY VERY VERY expensive place even the teachers (who are alumni) told me that they transferred in their junior year and even then it was TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH and that the school provides little scholarship assistance. Using me as example, I am one of those kids that fell thorugh the cracs of the system that even private institutions are bound by. My dad makes $95,000/ yr well okay thats alot right? but my mom makes only $9000/ yr and that is usually spent on food, clothes, and the basics. My dad pays mortgage, car, health, utility, and all expenses. At the end of the day we're only lookin at $5000-$7000 which means we're only capable of state school tuition if that. With Emory I'm STARING AT $30000/ yr still even with the HOPE scholarship nad other federal aid. Not including the fact that tuition increases if you start at Oxford since Oxford's cheaper. Chances are LOWER AND MIDDLE CLASS KIDS WILL NOT MAKE FINANCIALLY IT OR SOCIALLY. I STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO RESCONSIDER EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU NEED TO GO TO THE BEST PLACE POSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF YOUR SITUATION. EMORY IS NOT THE SOLUTION! EMORY IS FOR MOSTLY RICH KIDS WHO COULDNT GET IN ELSEWHERE AND LIKEWISE ACT LIKE THEY ARE BETTER THAN YOU! THE TRUTH IS WE ARE ALL EQUAL NO MATTER WHAT. YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO DO BETTER AND I KNOW STATE SCHOOLS MIGHT BE A DRAG BUT DO LIKE ME KICK ASS AND GET IN THE HONORS PROGRAM AND THEN YOU'RE GETTING THE SAME EDUCATION AT IN STATE TUITION NOT ONLY ARE YOU SAVING SOOOOOO MUCH BUT YOURE PUTTING YOURSELF IN POSITION TO GET INTO A BADASS GRAD SCHOOL. PLUS YOU GET TO BE AROUND COOLER PEOPLE! JUST REMEMBER IM IN IT WITH U AND WE'LL MAKE IT OUT AND HOPEFULLY GET WHERE WE WANNA BE. WE ALL DESERVE IT EVEN THE SNOBBY KIDS ITS TOO BAD THEYRE THAT WAY BECAUSE THEYD BE JUST AS COOL AS ANYONE ELSE! ANY QUES email me scholar1214gmail.com

commentI'm a current Emory student and took classes at UGA while in high school and the difficulty of the coursework is much greater in an Emory classroom. And yes honors programs at public schools are good but it is a lot harder to get into the same grad schools as people that graduated from schools like Emory or the like get into. And yes a lot of kids on Emorys campus are somewhat rich but that does not mean they are not smart. If you want to be in an academic environment centered around scholarly inquiry come to Emory.
responseWake up kids. Undergrads are the basics of college, not matter where you get it. 3.2GPA is fine from any scool to get into a decent grad school; unless of course you're going for Harvard, Yale, etc. Schools are businesses first and foremost (you Emory people should know that by now). I employ graduates from Emory, KSU, and GT. The guys from Emory and GT are no better in any area than the kids from KSU. It all comes down to the student. Emory is overpriced, and you're paying for a label to go along with what you as an individual decided to put in workwise. You should study, enoy life, and get a decent education by working hard. The school is just a label. Mark my words, when you get out in the real world people don't give a shit where your undergrad is from as long as you're smart. I throw you up in front of a whiteboard and ask you to solve a problem and you can't, your degree is useless no matter where it's from. Get smart now and quit believing the hype about Emory being some special school.
questionI'm curious.

My family's income is way under 50k, but I live overseas and to be honest, I'm used to a)people who don't look like me and b)being classified as rich just because I'm a white foreigner. I'm also lots more comfortable around people who aren't from America… as weird as that sounds. What do you think? Would I enjoy Emory? Oh, and I forgot, I'm from Georgia and the view's pretty grim for finding good colleges. Even your state colleges flop - UGA's in the top 5 party schools in the Princeton Review. I want the resources of a big city and as much financial aid as I can get. Emory sounds good to me.

But you're an insider… tell me, what am I missing?
