Guys u should really read this response regardless of where u go, this is a real response from my first post.

"Wake up kids. Undergrads are the basics of college, not matter where you get it. 3.2GPA is fine from any scool to get into a decent grad school; unless of course you're going for Harvard, Yale, etc. Schools are businesses first and foremost (you Emory people should know that by now). I employ graduates from Emory, KSU, and GT. The guys from Emory and GT are no better in any area than the kids from KSU. It all comes down to the student. Emory is overpriced, and you're paying for a label to go along with what you as an individual decided to put in workwise. You should study, enoy life, and get a decent education by working hard. The school is just a label. Mark my words, when you get out in the real world people don't give a shit where your undergrad is from as long as you're smart. I throw you up in front of a whiteboard and ask you to solve a problem and you can't, your degree is useless no matter where it's from. Get smart now and quit believing the hype about Emory being some special school"

I mean I couldn't have put it any better!

comment…and honestly, that is the truth of the matter.
It hardly matters in day-to-day operations. The question is --> 'Can you perform?'
I'm not going to pooh all over Emory b/c I was thinking about attending their b-school. Mostly b/c, in general, I assume that a degree from this sort of school (or Ivy) would mean a BIGGER salary and more connections.

I've encountered a few Ivy individuals and I tell you I could give a sh*t about prestige and being surrounded by a bunch of pretentious snobs gloating all over themselves with arrogant prof's who create difficult exams for the sake of being difficult (the purpose is not to gauge understanding or test knowledge…but to trip you up so you can fail the d*mn class! That not 'challenging'…it's bullsh*t!).

To me, the biggest draw to these top-tier and Ivy level schools would be getting your foot in the door to command larger salaries. Networking with well-connected people. That degree is supposed to work for you.

I see no other purpose for applying to these schools. But, I mean, if you're working w/individuals who attended lowly state school (and, god forbid, students who attend community college before transferring!)… If that degree - that name - is not bettering your circumstances or position—what exactly was the point of it all?
Just to say,

I went to Emory or Rice or some Ivy League school.

How very sad…

Well, anyway—I've discovered that I can network on my own. LOL. Furthermore, I only really evaluate schools by my chosen major(acct)…as opposed to the school rep, anyway.
So, I attended a podunk and 'inferior little state school' w/a good acctg program—and landed a job with Ernst and Young.
Works for me.
