I am in love with Georgia Southern. The campus is absolutely beautiful and the dorms are the best in Georgia. The professors are always extremely helpful and knowledgable. Diversity and community are emphasized. I think the two main factors people hesitate about attending GSU is the town. Statesboro is very small. If you are from a big city, you should definitely visit the school and the town before making the decision to come here or there may be some culture shock. As far as things to do on the weekends goes, there is a movie theatre, a tiny mall with a few stores, some cute shops downtown, and a bowling alley and putt putt golf. If you want to get out of town for the weekend, Savannah is about 45 minutes away. The second factor is that many people have labeled GSU as a "party school". Many kids do go out at night to the local bars and clubs but that will be found in any college you attend. Partying definitely doesn't dominate the student's lives here. There are plenty of other activities to get involved with such as intramural sports, clubs, or religious organizations such as the BCM, Wesley, and Chi Alpha. Overall, I love Georgia Southern and wouldn't consider going to any other school!
