Major: Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc (This Major's Salary over time)
I've been going to SCAD for three years. The painting department here is something of a phenomenon. For a small department a lot of excellent work is being produced. I often find myself enjoying the work done here than any gallery I've been to. Whats great about the department is that they stress the traditional methods of painting, but if you want to try your own ideas, they will encourage that too. Perhaps the only weakness that we have here is the lack of emphasis on theory. To some, that may raise a few eye brows, but in all honesty that sort of depth requires the wisdom and tact of artists who have been around for 30-40 years and well versed in the techniques of the masters. The art that comes out of this school is pop and or post modernist. A few recent graduates have had work purchased by MOMA for a show in 2006.
