Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I am from Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota. In my junior and senior year of high school my parents said they would pay for any school that I could get a good academic scholarship to in the midwest (as they said, within driving distance.)

I chose Drake from a list of St. Thomas (small Minnesota private school, not very good academically and it seemed like high school 2.0 to me) and University of Wisconsin - Madison. UW was very attractive, but I didn't want to be taught by a teachers aid and live on a huge campus.

Finally, one individual sold me on Drake. Randy Blum, the Dean of Students for the College of Business and Public and Administration is an absolutely amazing and charismatic individual. If every single professor was like him here, this would be one of the most selective schools in the country as he is that good at being a selling point for the school. Unfortunately, not all the professors are of his caliber.

Now onto the approachability of the professors. Of 7 of my professors this semester, I would say 4 are very approachable, while 2 are fairly approachable. One of the professors is rather boring, senile, and just plain odd. I'll be honest, I haven't directly introduced myself to any of these professors, yet the 4 approachable ones know my name. I feel like if I personally chose to get to know them they would be willing to help me.

I'd like to bring up the topic of Des Moines as a boring city. I haven't been to downtown Des Moines very often yet because I am a first year student with no car on campus, but I think this just shows that I can find interesting things to do on campus. What I like most is that I can just hang out with friends in their dorm rooms. And as a college student without a steady flow of cash, I'm sure going to a big school in a big city like the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis would bleed me dry financially.

The greek life does seem fairly prominent here, but I didn't rush or join a frat and I don't feel secluded or left out. I know guys in frats, and yes some of them have the stereotype attitude, but they aren't in your face with it. It may SEEM like all of the guys you know are rushing in the fall, but don't feel pressured into joining a frat if you don't want to. Nobody will judge you for it.

I'd also like to talk about the sports teams on campus. One review of the school said sports here were terrible, but as a sports writer for the student newspaper I can definitely disagree with that. Our mens soccer team made it to the NCAA Elite 8 this year. Our men's tennis team has been to the NCAA tourney for 3 of the last 4 years. Our men's basketball team is looking to become a serious competitor as the new head coach is an excellent recruiter. Our volleyball team has been getting better and better since the new coach arrived.

Also, I read a review about a graduate talking about how Drake doesn't help it's graduates get a good job. I don't know this persons situation, but the fact that I just met a Drake graduate who is the vice president of marketing for GE Money. I feel that if you have a degree and enough initiative you can get a great job. I think Des Moines, and one of the insurance companies that have their headquarters there, would be a great starting point for a young person's career. To expect to get your dream job within 5 years out of college is just ridiculous.

commentI am so glad to know about the reviews of there students who graduate from them. And i decided to take the admission of my younger brother in his institute. But you can check https://datarob.com/ to get great work. And it's great that they focussed more on the faculty accessibility.
