I am about to graduate from Drake and I can say that it is a very different place and a unique college experience.
  • This mostly pertains to if you are going into the business school which I recommend
  • *

The business school at Drake will get you very well prepared for getting a job in the future. Period. Drake Business School goes the extra mile to craft students into real professionals and if you don't believe me, schedule a visit. Degrees like Marketing are not too difficult, but if you plan on majoring in Actuarial Science get ready for an intense, but highly regarded program.

My favorite part- the social life-

Drake has an amazing social life except for the fact that you sort of have to be "in it." I'll explain -

Out of the entire Drake population (my view) -

60% of Drake Students are social (go out, involved in senate, activities board)

This 60% is made up of people involved in fraternities, sororities, athletes and some artsy type kids. Of this 60%, I'd say well over 3/4ths are in a frat/sorority.

The other 40% are people who don't have the association and includes people not in frats/sororities and Malaysians. (Yes like people from Malaysia. There is a large group of them and they keep to themselves and ruin your exam curve)

The fraternities and sororities basically run the bars, have the big parties and you can see the divide between them and the rest of campus. There are a few bars that are very easy to get into and are a lot of fun. There are four bars, each unique but have one thing in common…lenient on IDs. Although this may seem alarming, I think these bars are far safer and under better control than any house party I've been to with over 75 people.

Drake is a great place to get an education while meeting a lot of great people. It will prepare you for the real world and be a great place to grow and learn about yourself.
