AMU is a waste of time. The course work provided little in the realm of education, and I lost 21 hours when transferring to a regionally acredited university. The courses were not the least bit challenging. This so called school takes advantage of active duty military, especially junior enlisted. I enrolled in AMU because I was a LCpl in the Marine Corps with a family, and had little disposable income. AMU included books in its tuition, which allowed me to go for free because of TA. I didn't understand the difference between regional and other forms of acreditation (My fault). I have now completed my degree with a reputable university, and I hope that no other Marines, or other service members waste their time with this school.

commentActually, had you been "quite bright" you would have done a little bit of research and visited this web site: Here you would have found APUS's regional accreditation wherein you would have read, if you were "quite bright", the historical note that says AMU is a part of APUS and therefore also has regional accreditation. Next time research before commenting—you should have this basic skill—you are a college graduate, after all.
responseAMU, which falls under the American Public University System (APUS) is both regionally and nationally accredited. Their credits (and degrees for that matter) will transfer.
questionWhat school did you transfer to?
responseRegional Accredidation doesn't guarantee that it will transfer over. Especially if it's credits used in the admissions process of the transfer. I just talked this over with an admissions counselor at Texas A&M. Save your time and go to a reputable NOT for profit university.
responseWhen you transfer from one school to another school you can only transfer a certain amount of hours and they have to be relevant to the new degree that you are getting. It is set up that way because if it wasn't then everyone would just go to school at a cheaper university and then transfer to Harvard the last semester and get a degree from Harvard. That would not be fair cause in reality only 87% of your education came from another university.
responseI agree with your statements. I plan on transferring out of this school. I feel like all of the comments on this site are damage control attempts by the university itself. They are dumb.
responseThey may have not had accredidation in 2008. Have the snarky posters on here done the historical research? Your attitude is perfect for AMU faculty. Please post your response in APA format with correct citations. Minimum of 7-10 pages of "essay", not including title and reference page, and make sure to use at least two schollarly sources.
