Being an international student,I was very skeptical in the first place as to how I would fit in. I found IIT to be very welcoming.

One thing that a student needs to keep in mind here is that they are treated as adults here, if you aren't willing to help yourselves, your professors will see you lack of motivation, they will try helping, but beyond a certain point, they too will stop caring.

Also, you should be proactive and join student organizations. The social life is good, we have at least 5 -7 events a week but you will not know of them unless you make the effort to know about them.
