People keep saying college is what you make of it. Well to me, it's on you, AND the school. You can't expect to go to a crummy school and put all your effort into what you aimed for, yet… no support. Well someone said it already and I'll say it once more:Well someone said it already and I'll say it once more:This school is imbalanced. They only focus on academics and that's about it. If you're the type of person who LOVED studying and hated going to games, and made friends with the librarian or the dude incharge of the chess/math team.. tHEN tHiS iS tHE SCHO0L for yOU!! By all means get over here. Don't waste anymore time, quit reading this comment! AND If you hate party schools, come right over here. The kids who do party have to go off to the bars anyway. This campus is QuuUUuuuiiiiEEttt so don't worry about ANybODy distracting you from your studies. Plus, last year they built this new building called the Information Commons on the Lake Shore Campus. It faces the lake (such a beautiful view), connected to the library, and has computers on every floor, in addition, the third floor is the "Quiet Study Area" (literally) silence all cell-phones. First floor, talk all you want.<-($) Loyola DOESN'T HAVE A FOOTBALL TEAM (see I didn't know that when I was coming in) that might be a positive for you. Why? Because they don't have the crazy homecoming kick-off events or parades. (which i ALMOSt missed out on.. I had to go to Northwestern.. go figure). So if you love studies come right over.. oh yea it's a beautiful campus. They offer study abrod program to Rome. If you get the chance to do it, go for it! Itll be a great experience.BUT! If your looking for a well balanced school, equal in both studies AND social life/extra-curricular activities. I would not advise you to come here.. trust. My friend goes to DePaul, and when he came to visit, he told me that all these kids look.. dead. And it's true, there are days when I feel drained. I wasnt even excited to go to classes the first day of school!! I was like what? Normally Im psyched to meet new people and see my classmates and teachers (lol all my teachers know me, I leave a mark). Ill say one thing, my teachers were the ones that bring flavor to the school.. At times AND my job. Wow. Don't talk loud.. they'll look at you like you're not civilized.. and Im a pretty loud comedic individual.. as people would describe me lol/off topic. So, a lot of people on this campus leave to go home for the weekends so it's real dead on campus by Fri. afternoon. A lot of the people I made friends with, transferred, and they didn't tell me till the end of first semester! Didn't even tell me.. text. That's not right. Basketball team.. not whats happening at the moment, for instance, they beat the 15th best school in the state, yet lost 33 games, whats the problem? Were good at soccer.. now whens the last time youve seen College soccer being televised as much as March Madness? This school is NOT diverse, quit playin with me. Attend an A.R.M meeting, and your eyes WILL be opened. Academics are great though, theyve helped me improve my studying skills. Oh and food sucks, I think everyone already knows that.Tuition is going up, economy is going down, invest wisely, logically, and how YOU would like to spend the next FOUR/three/two years of college/life (I mean your living/commuting there c'mon). There are people who love academics. There are people who love to party.. Hard!! (<—stir away from universities period). And there are those who just want a little bit of both, or just want a school to offer both. Visit the colleges, email students who currently go there, talk to the advisers, really. Get the dirt, quit looking at the brochure. Because if you know the dirt and you think your capable of brushing it off then go ahead. But if you feel as if you need some Mr. Clean, leave! Peace (sorry 4 this coment being so long)
