Nobody is going to MAKE you take good classes, or even attend class for that matter. Act like an adult. Take an adult interest in your work. Your social life will be the same as it was in HS.

There are good departments, and an intellectual atmosphere is available, but not pervasive. You will have to seek it out. My experience was great, but that's because I did my work and sought out the best education I could get at UA.
