Major: Music - Performance (This Major's Salary over time)
Having graduated from Northwestern about 10 years ago, I am seeing the same old things being said about NU today. So here's my opinion…Academically, the school is recognized. When people look at my resume, they most certainly are impressed with the name. We, on the inside, know that while NU was challenging, it was not the end all of higher education. Nonetheless, people think it is, so use it to your advantage. Being in music, many of my colleagues are already college professors, orchestra musicians, and have toured all over the world. They achieved all of this before 30!!!!Social life exists. I had days of debauchery and days of boredom and everything in between. Don't rely on your dorms or the Greek System, just join student activities, that is where I have seen the friendships last. Oh, and NO I was not a part of the Greek system, but I sure drank their alcohol, please do the same.I do have to agree that the students are socially awkward. It is known in the working world that NU students are hard workers, but they lack the charisma to lead and the courage to innovate. Not a stereotype necessarily, but we have seen it often. In short, study hard, practice alot, get drunk, and when you turn 21, get your ass to Chicago as much as possible!!!!
