SAIC is what you make of it. If you want to see this school as a waste of time, money or a poor social scene, then I think it's time you transfer to another school. SAIC is is full of Faculty in the Fine Art and Design areas that are here to help us in any way they can technically and conceptually. WE as students need to be proactive in OUR OWN education to seek them out. You are all adults. Take a hold of what is at your finger tips at quite a pretty price and make your education what it can be with world renown facilities, resources and collections, an amazing museum that you have access to everyday that the founding faculty of this school created!!! Every school has political problems, gender ratio issues, but these should not affect your education. Didn't you notice that shit at your high school, I did!

You aren't declaring a major here, you get to create your own education, where else can you do that? You build connections here in the most amazing city, if you work at it.

This is not a dangerous city, if you are smart. People DO NOT get shot, stabbed, hit by cars all the time, this happens rarely and to people that do not pay attention or are involved in shady shit. So, don't be a dumb ass and if you are interested in becoming a PRACTICING ARTIST or DESIGNER, SAIC is the best place you can be.

As for diversity. Be real folks. This is the Midwest. I stick out like a sore thumb, but of course there isn't a large racially diverse population. We go to a Fine Art and Design school, if you want diversity, go to a public university, see how much diversity you get there.

And as for your social hangups…This is Chicago! If you are bored, get a bike or hop on the EL and explore. Just because we are under 21 doesn't mean there aren't things to do! This City is awesome and I am from here! I see great music play all over my city and there are gallery openings every weekend! If you all are bored, that is your problem! Get out of the Loop, it's the corp and finance district, not the place for fun…

I am lucky to be here from the amazing scholarship I received! So those of you that think it's so easy to get in here and the financial aid they give they give to everyone is a bad thing, you are simply a brat! Be grateful for your education and the privilege to get one! This is the end of my second year and I am still grateful to be here! Good luck to you all that complain… Nothing that is worth having is easy!
