The University of Chicago is truly a great place. Though it is nicknamed the place where fun comes to die, among others, it is both academically and non-academically fulfilling. The core, the small class sizes, the professors all make the U of C a great place to learn, not to mention the willingness of everyone around you to learn for learning's sake. There *is* a social life! Everywhere, not just at the U of C, college is what you make of it. If you want to wear the Where Fun Comes to Die shirt and hole yourself up in the library all quarter long, you can. But if you are up for always interesting things to do, they are definitely there.
