The University of Illinois is sterile and lacks a personality. If you are looking for a traditional college experience, living on campus is probably a good idea but in general, UIC is a commuter school. The students are treated a bit like cattle. The classes are rather large but with dedication to your studies, it's not a big problem. A large portion of the staff is extremely unfriendly but there are nice people here and there. The freshmen year workload is extremely easy and it would probably be a good idea to either join a lot of clubs, sports, or take more classes. I have yet to experience sophmore year and beyond but from what I have seen, it is a very good school for the price but will leave you sad and empty if you're looking for friendly and traditional college campus.
