Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Although I was accepted at "better" schools, I could not be happier with my choice to attend U of I. As a poli sci major, I've dealt with some TAs who don't speak english particularly well, but once you get through the lower level (100 and 200) classes, the professors are top notch. My classes now all have less than 30 students in them and the professors are both knowledgable and very approachable. As for the social life on campus, don't listen to people who claim it all revolves around the Greek system. While it's true that U of I is the largest Greek system in the country, a whooping 3/4 of the 30,000 undergraduate students are NOT Greek. Being Greek may make it easier to find things to do, but there are plenty of non-Greek centered activities as well. From house parties in Urbana, to concerts at Foellinger and The Canopy Club, the fun is out there. You just have to be willing to leave your dorm room to find it.
