Major: Journalism (This Major's Salary over time)
Overall, IU has been pretty good to me. I'm going to be a professional writer, and I feel like the journalism school has done a lot for my writing and researching skills. I'm in a sorority, and I think that's been pretty good too. Extracurricular activities on this campus are fantastic, and anyone who says they aren't isn't trying to get involved. The faculty is mostly okay, but grad students who are just finishing their dissertations can be horrendous to deal with in class - pompous, difficult, et cetera. Complaints about the greek system don't hold a lot of water with most people. There are a lot of us, but there are a lot more independents, so the whining is kind of stupid.Like any other college dorm, IU dorms are noisy, hot, and cramped. If you don't join a frat or a sorority, get an apartment after your freshman year or at the very least, go live in an upperclass dorm, which tend to be in better repair and have more amenities. I'm in a sorority house, and it's a lot nicer than the dorms. Frat houses are garbage dumps, but that goes without saying. A lot of freshmen tend to go overboard on the party scene their first and sometimes second semesters. They get a little too into getting sooooooo druuuuuuuuunk at some frat that's soooooo awesoooooooome. Partying is fine, but keep it under control until you know what you need to be successful, then you can settle into your lifestyle. Additionally, when it comes to drinking, IU does have its own police department and idiot freshmen get arrested all the time when they're stumbling drunk around campus. It's good to be careful.
