Here's the thing. There are great things about IU, and many types of people love it. CAMPUS: Personally, I was drawn in to IU because of the beautiful campus. Seriously. Even on the worst of days I could walk outside my dorm and be at least a little cheered up, because everything almost looked like a fairytale.ADMINISTRATION: That being said, there are some serious drawbacks to IU. I was treated like a number. Constantly. More than once I was shut out of the system, my class schedule deleted right before I was to start the next semester, and it was HELL trying to find anyone to help me. My advisors "advised" the wrong classes more than a couple of times. I also had to take a leave of absence for a semester, due to a verified medical condition and IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING. This is basically how it went: Oh, sure, no problem, we understand, don't worry you're doing great, just take this semester off so you don't die. Then I came back and they were like…Oh well we might not give you any financial aid at all because you left and you need to spend three days on the phone so we don't accidentally say that you failed all of your classes and are a horrible student.FINANCIAL AID: is useless. I had a 34 ACT and a 3.5 GPA…and I received less than 5,000 dollars a year, to a school that is constantly getting more expensive/cheating me out of my money, and that doesn't even have that great of a reputation to begin with.STUDENTS: You're either a stuck up sorority girl, a complete hick from Indiana, or desperately trying to be some sort of a hipster. Seriously, I underestimated the "hick" aspect of this school. The moment you get off the main streets of campus, no one has read a book. LIFE: There are some OKAY restaurants, but coming from a large city, the food is terrible. Forget the dining halls. The town is super cute. Until you're there for a year.TO SUM IT UP: The entire school basically just begs for you to come here, lures you in with kelley business school, a beautiful campus, and pretty things, and then you end up in the middle of hickville Indiana in a tiny town surrounded by nothing until they swindle you out of enough money.
