I went to UWA when is was known as Livingston University. The nursing program was only in its second year and there were many administrative problems. The university replaced the beloved-but-disorganized director with a PhD whom everybody hated—BUT,she made sure we were trained, prepared, and MADE to be great nurses. She nearly killed us. She had no hesitancy about failing any student who didn't try or didn't study. she was not warm and fuzzy, but she turned that department around.

The funny thing is, I only went to UWA to follow a boyfriend (who promptly dumped me!)I only went into nursing because my roommate did. I fell in love with the campus and the town. I grew up at college. The close relationships that developed with professors and students couldn't be matched anywhere else. When I suffered a serious bout of depression in my senior year, one of my professors called me mother(without my knowing it) and told her somthing was wrong, come get me. I left school before finals and recovered at home for a few weeks. When school resumed, they let me take my finals, no problem. I graduated with honors and went on to have a career of 27 years in the field of nursing.
