I grew up in Upstate NY and had friend of many different religions and backrounds. You are supposed to meet new people and hear new ideas in college. It was the opposite for me. I went to ND and was surrounded only by football obsessed Catholics. There was no diversity at all and everyone was Midwestern, White, and Catholic. I would say that I am conservative but at ND I was considered liberal. I studied very hard in high school and loved academics. I got wait-listed at the schools I really wanted to go to (an ivy leauge and a top liberal arts college). I only applied to ND because my father went there and it was my safety school. I deeply regret not transferring schools.
