Major: PreMed and Medical (This Major's Salary over time)
I think that the academic difficulty of Notre Dame varies according to the major. I chose a science major with the intent of going to medical school, and I thought that my science courses were extremely difficult and competitive. Many (not all) of the science classes were set to a B/B- average curve, and since most of the students were premed and were all pretty smart, they were really intense about their grades. People who were naturally gifted in science still had to study, but they didn't have as hard of a time as I did. Most of my science courses were in large lecture halls, and some teachers were more concentrated with their research than teaching. However, many of the teachers were amazing and welcomed contact outside of class. Many of the other courses I took outside of science, including required university courses like philosophy and psychology, were extremely interesting but not exactly tough. However, I am not a person who thinks that a course necessarily has to be difficult in order to gain something from it. You can tell what majors are "easier" by looking at the majors of athletes (sociology, business management, etc). Not to say that the athletes are dumb…but many of them don't have the time to devote to a more difficult major…uhhh anyway, compared to many of my friends' experiences at other schools, I feel that Notre Dame provided an overall excellent education, and I am satisfied with my choice.

I think some of the people at the school were a little arrogant. You can tell that a lot of people here were "uncool" in high school and tried really hard to reinvent themselves. However, since a lot of people here are nerdy, it's okay. Most people are really into the whole "idea" of Notre Dame, which kind of weirded me out, but I was definitely in the minority. I don't really know how to explain it. I felt like everyone was really Type A…study study study, party party party, nothing in between. I didn't feel like people here had a real grasp on reality, and at the time, I couldn't imagine most of them actually entering the real world. However, everyone seems to be very successful now. The whole "Notre Dame family" thing always made me cringe, but it is true that the alumni will go to great lengths to help out other alumni, whether that's in the career world or somewhere else.
