There are a lot of whiny people posting about Emerson. Saying things like: the students are rich and spoiled, the professors are dumb, the school is close-minded. Yes all of these things are true… to a point. Grow up, it's the real world. Emerson is a business like any other school and going there involves playing the game to get what you want. This is not a school for the Undeclared Major. If you know what you want and will work hard to get it then this is the place for you. If you don't know what you want and you are waiting for school to show you then go to UMass and get drunk. Emerson is all about the extracuriculars, that is where you will learn most practical skills if you wish to work in film/television/theater/radio. I can't speak for the other programs as I know nothing about them. Administratively Emerson is an unorganized mess… but the system works if you're responsible and stay on top of it. Most people who have a bad experience are lazy, whiny, and expect everything to be done for them. Overall I got what I needed from Emerson although the experience could have been smoother. My current job and career are based on the start the Emerson LA Program gave me so take from this what you will. It's a unique school.
