Mount Holyoke is beautiful. The professors are overall great. However, if you are a straight, white student you are the minority. They love diversity so much, that the school practically shuns white New England students. I cannot explain to you how many lesbians are on this campus. There needs to be something done. Alums are outraged. There is a problem with giving because of the way that the school used to run and the way that it runs now. Though it claims to be so open minded, in reality it is close minded to anybody who is not a radical lesbian/trans gender. Yes, Mount Holyoke does not have a lesbian problem like Smith, but there is still a problem.

As far as social life goes, go to Amherst College if you are straight. Mount Holyoke's social life consists of lesbian parties.

Why would lesbians be a problem? I do not understand that point. I personally think that it is pretty absurd to state that people are outraged at this. It is an all girls school you attend hun and last time I checked, gays are not animals who cause outrage.

There is not question that there is outrage—there is tension on campus that relates to the sad reality that straight women do not exactly feel welcomed or even prevalent on campus. As an alum of another women's college (not a "girls' school, 'hun'"), I feel strongly that straight students should not feel like the minority and student life should not be so dominated by lesbian students that current and prospective students feel unwelcome. The problem is not that there are lesbians, it is their dominance, aggressiveness and inappropriate behavior (whether you are straight or gay, it is inappropriate to make out in public). From what I have seen on this campus, that problem would stop me from attending a women's college, which is sad because there are great aspects to this campus.

The nature of this topic is outrageous, and calling any marginalized group of society a "problem" is ridiculous. Claiming that all lesbians are dominant and aggressive is not coming from a place of understanding, but hatred through lack of understanding.

Acceptance is the mark of a true MoHo. And chill out, a little PDA never hurt anyone.
