I never thought that I would like a girl's school so much! Mount Holyoke has given me the freedom to be myself completely, which I don't think I would have found at any other university. I have wonderful friends who are intelligent, hardworking, fun-loving, and considerably more mature than most of my high-school classmates. I also have not had one unfriendly professor yet. They are all wonderful people who are incredibly knowledgeeable and passionate about their subjects - their enthusiasm rubs off on their students. Whenever I have a question or two, they're happy to help me, which I appreciate. I've had teachers who have taught at Oxford, who work with the CIA, who have won Pulitzers and written critically acclaimed novels. For someone like me, that makes them akin to rock stars!

Since I've been here, I haven't met a single woman who's afraid to "be herself". I find that this is because the women here are genuinely interested in your views and opinions, no matter what your appearance. I didn't realize just how wonderful this was until I got here.

There is a social life here, but you have to look around a bit to find it. Mount Holyoke has the most dances of the Five Colleges. (Because we're girls and we like to dance!) The trick is to find which ones to avoid, because some are fun and some are really boring. You can go to UMass and find a party any day of the week, but most of us prefer to party less often. There's always an opportunity here to sit on the green and study or have movie night with your friends. The beauty of Mount Holyoke is that you can find a good time if you really want one, but that you can always come back to your peaceful, gorgeous campus.

If I could, I would stay at Mount Holyoke for as long as possible. I'm only a freshman, but I'm already dreading graduation and having to leave all my friends. Mount Holyoke has been the best decision I could ever make for myself - only here can I be myself completely. Here I have the freedom to explore what I love, and it's the most wonderful feeling.
