| Salem
State wasn't my first choice but their Communications program is
really good especially for Journalism, Advertising or PR. The classes
are theoretical, practical and you really do learn. I'm glad
I chose to be a Journalism major here. Some other
noteworthy majors are Education, Nursing, Social Work, Criminal Justice and
Psychology. The social life isn't that great if you live
on campus here. This is primarily a commuter school, as
I am a commuter myself. It’s mostly locals in the
surrounding area who go here. However, Salem is a very
cool area with some nightlife and lots of history as
well as a Halloween bash every year. Boston, Gloucester are
very closeby too. The Central Campus dorm and the Bates
Living complex are the best places to live on campus.
I’ve seen them and they’re pretty decent size and clean
too. However, I do recommend this school. Be sure you
pick the right major (this is coming from other students
I know). Some of the gen ed classes suck, but
they have a really good communications/journalism program here. Consider this
if you want to pay state school prices in Mass
rather than going to Emerson and pay big bucks.
