This is overall a great school for the money you have to pay, and for me, they provided some pretty good financial aid. If you live out of state however, you will have some trouble making ends meet, but you can definitely make it work. Personally, I love the atmosphere at Umass, it feels a lot more calm and pleasing than many other campuses I have visited. DON'T COMMUTE! I commuted my freshman year and I regretted it halfway through. There is nothing wrong with it if you need to save money and are ok with getting up early and driving, but if possible, live on campus and delve into student life. If i could change anything about my experience so far, it would have been to live there the first and most important year, instead of getting in during sophemore year.
