MICA was what I thought it would be. I did research before I went, though I never visited the campus or even the east coast. I was prepared for shitty weather and a high crime city. Like any city you have to be street smart. Most of the crimes commited against the students are late at night, with the student not being aware of possible danger (usually drunk and alone.)

Like any school, what you get out is equal to what you put in. If you are in college to party, you will not improve yourself as much as those who are dedicated to their work. If you are serious, the teachers treat you as such. Most of the faculty are fantastic and are happy to spend time with you if you show respect and dedication. Many of the students don't spend enough time on their work, which sucks because they drag the standard for the class down, which is also frustrating to the teachers who take their job seriously.

I transfered so I have a perspective of multiple colleges and I can say MICA beats the other schools hands down in terms of getting classes and access to teachers. They also have a university exchange program where you can take classes at neighboring colleges, since academics are a bit of a joke, though the literature department is a lot of fun.

Basically if you want to work hard and are ready to commit to your work, this is a great school. If you want to get drunk and smoke pot everyday, maybe you should take some time off school or take some classes at junior college while you figure out what is important to you before dishing out $24,000 a year for tuition, because it will be over before you know it.
