Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
Worst experience of my life. I used to believe in "no regrets" until I came to Kettering. I thought I was making a mature decision in coming here putting scholastics ahead of fun. I was wrong. There is absolutely nothing to do on or around campus. You have to join a fraternity if you want to somewhat enjoy your experience here. I've never seen a student body who hated their school as much as Kettering's does.I got good grades in high school (3.6 GPA) but here it's another story. I know college is going to be harder than high school, but this is ridiculous. Many professors don't speak or understand English, and it's very hard to pay attention in their classes. Many professors are stuck up snobs because they think they're better than all the students who pay their salary. I hate to use names but professor Ali Zand is on of them. His English is terrible, and his attitude towards students is worse. He expects us to know the material better than he does and is an extremely hard grader. There are, however, some nice teachers who make Kettering more tolerable. Congrats to Prof. Reg Bell who may be my favorite teacher of all time.Campus life is another story. The university does nothing to keep students on campus for weekends. Many students leave on the weekends to save themselves from Flint (aka the asscrack of America). The rec center is pretty decent because no one uses it. There isn't much to do there except play basketball or swim. The weight room is decent but lacks basic machines. Basically, you have to join a fraternity and drink to have a good time. All in all I would say Kettering is a terrible place to spend your college years and money. If you are reading this before you apply, don't come. I wish I did more research. The city sucks, the people are ok if you find a group like yourself, and the education is moderate to decent. I've been to other colleges and had a blast. If I had the chance to go to a different university, I would transfer in a heartbeat. (One more thing. Kettering credits are impossible to transfer, and they rarely accept incoming credits too.) That being said, I hope you consider what I had to say and make an informed decision.
