Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
The University's art program is quite disappointing. The first year and a half is basically filled with art classes that really need to be redesigned. I understand that TMP and CFC can be useful classes (if you get the right professor) but ADP takes up three semesters and is absolute bullshit. There are no definite majors (you don't have a structured curriculum for ceramics or painting) and the school really is focused on creating designers, not artists. We are also talked at for the majority of the week, rather than being pushed to create. If you have absolutely no clue what type of art you're interested in, or if you want to double major in an academic major too, then U of M may satisfy you. I personally feel as though I'm wasting my time. If I hadn't met so many wonderful friends here, I'd transfer.
