Date: Jul 07 2010 Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time) Going to Michigan was especially great for one thing - the reputation. I had no problem getting a good job and later, I had a number of top grad schools recruiting me. Everyone seems to be impressed with my Michigan degree. Unfortunately, I feel like the quality of my education was lacking, and other alumni I know have said the same thing. Classes tend to be large and impersonal, most professors only care about their research, and you have to work very hard to forge any type of meaningful or lasting relationship with them. If your experience was different, consider yourself lucky.Ann Arbor is a neat town - make the most out of it. I am attending grad school at another large university and only now do I realize how great Ann Arbor really was.I'm a shy/reserved person by nature and it was difficult for me to make close friendships, but I blame myself for that and not U-M. In a school with tens of thousands of students there is bound to be a wide range of personalities, so you can't paint the whole student body with one brush. There are sweet down to earth people, stuck-up jerks, and everything in between.
