Im an out of state student from Texas who knew absolutley no one coming to Mizzou. It only took about two weeks for me to find my "group" of friends. We are all from diffrent states too. Sure there are tons of st.louis people here but if you go to any university there will be lots of people from that state. Tons of my friends are from chicago and minnesota, which is really cool. I also live in the dorms. I recommend them highly!! I live in a dorm that has a international floor and i have met people from japan, jamaica, italy, england, and various other countries. Dont be scared to come here if you are from out of state. Just live in the dorms and you will meet and become close friends with so many people.

Another great thing is the campus is BEAUTIFUL!! everyday walking to classes i am so impresssed by the campuses beauty. It really is like a park here. The weather is great to. Its just an amazing place to be.

Greek Life-

ok so i have mixed feelings about greek life. I did decide to join a soroity but i dont consider myself your typical "sororoity girl". It really is a very big part of mizzou. If you dont do sports or really have anything else you want to do with your time then join one. If you like your free time then dont. Because it will take up alot of your time and money. It is a really nig deal on the campus though. Alot of girls will constantly ask you if you are in a sorority. Really though dont be pressured into joining one. I have tons of friends who are not in my sorority and who arent even in one, and its not an issue. You still can go to all the frat partys anyways whether you are a sorority girl or not. and there are still tons of things to do if you are not in a sorority. Pretty much there are good and bad things…you just have to decide if its something you want to do.

Education-

ok so im doing just basic classes right now but i still find them very challenging. I have lots of homework and am really having to try really hard in all my classes and only making like B's. Im not from a small school either, my grad. class was 800 so im used to things being hard and competitive so it isnt much of a change for me to have to really work hard. Alot of people are really having a reality check though because they are from very small schools. So if you are from a small school…just know you have to work harder. My teachers for the most part are very good. I just have one i dont like. And even my lecture classes get split up into smaller classes so you can get more one on one attention. Ive never been offered more chances for help and success ever. They have study groups, tutors, student help centers. There are plenty of ways to get help if you are struggling.

Social life-

I am one of those people who likes to party but im not by any means a partyer. Its not something I do every weekend or anything. If you dont party or drink though..there are plenty of things for you to do and groups and activitys to join so dont freak out. Yes partys happen 24/7 on this campus though and you are not going to be able to completly escape this if you live on campus. If partying is a big deal to you and you want to do it all the time then you will love it here too. There is always a party somewhere in greek town or around columbia.

In general im only a freshmen but i have fallen in love with mizzou. the people, beauty, and atmosphere have just sold me on it. Not to mention the football is AMAZING! I hope this helps!
