Major: Music - Performance (This Major's Salary over time)
my college experience was a mixed bag. But the longer i am away from it the more i realize how radically it changed me.

I had opportunities to perform on Broadway, premier operas, tour europe, make life-long friends, reinvent myself 10 times over, and ultimately find out who I am. Initially most of this was through experience, but my last 3 years (i stayed 5) I changed my major from a BS in music ed to a BA in music. a switch that led me to sociology, literature, philosophy, creative writing, linguistics amd a host of other subjects that sparked my interest in learning and led me to my current career path.

Coming to Mizzou i wish i had known ho challenging it would be to study music. It can be a demoralizing experience, but not as a result of the professors or the school, it's just the nature of the discipline. It is difficult. and not for the faint of heart. It is also not a career choice for those who want a structured career path. be warned. That being said,If i had to d it over again i wouldn't change a thing.

Generally speaking, I recommend Mizzou without reservation.

Gorgeous campus, lots of opportunity to do research, join clubs, greek letter organizations, etc. The town is pretty liberal and it has a substantial hippie and hipster scene to balance out the greek and sports scene as well. Great programs for freshman-frosh interest groups-they're called. Gives you a chance to live in dorms with people who have similar interests which cannot be understated. I met my best friend there! Awesome sports scene, lots of spirit, lots of activism, accessible profs, reasonable administration, and affordable (tuition rising) The students are amazing. I've never met so many talented, down to earth individuals. It can be cliquish at times, but trust me, after a year or two, all those high school bonds break, and people become a little more secure in themselves.

Missourians are friendly, and I'm thrilled with my education.

I decided on a major that would satisfy my intellectual and creative needs, but after i graduated, I had to do the work of finding a profession, what to do with my life and talents,a decision i was not ready to make while i was in school. Music at Mizzou helped me grow as a person, not necessarily find a job.
